  • "HOW DOES IT WORK? It's really simple. You select an area to camp from our available locations, decide on a campground within that location, decide on a floorplan that best suits the number of people in your party, then give our reservation office a call and place your reservation. Some campgrounds will accept reservations, as noted in the list of campgrounds. You can call the number listed to arrange for that part of your vacation. Once your reservation is made, it will be confirmed via email and payment will be arranged. You will be given an estimated 2 hour window during which your trailer will be placed for you by our parking personnel on the day of your arrival, as well as a check-out time for the trailer to be picked up once your stay is complete. Most often asked questions are listed below with the answers.

    Trailer Parking Times: All Adventure In Camping trailers are parked between 12:00pm and 4:30pm daily. Checkout times are between 8:00am and 10:00am daily. You will be assigned a parking and check out time based upon availability when you make your reservation. These times are strictly enforced (see Late Checkout Fees), but if you have special needs, please contact the resservation office. Please Note: Due to saftey issues, no trailers can be parked in the dark.

    Late Checkout Fees: Due to the distance and time required, your Check-Out time is strictly enforced. A Late Check-Out surcharge up to $100 per hour may be charged for checking out after your assigned Check-Out time. Please check your paperwork for the checkout time assigned to you.

    Supplies:Each trailer comes fully equipped with a basic set of dishes, eating, and cooking utensils to accommodate the number of people the unit sleeps. There is also a basic set of pots and pans, and a stovetop coffee pot. We provide complimentary paper towels, toilet paper, bath soap, and dish soap. Sorry, but we do not provide linens or bath towels. We furnish an entry mat and a small outdoor rug for the outside doorstep. We also supply a 50' water hose for refilling the trailer's fresh water holding tank, and a jug & funnel in case the water tap is too far from the trailer.

    Confirmation Deposit: A deposit equaling 50 percent of the total amount due must be received no later than 15 days (payable by check or money order) after the date you made your reservation. This is separate from the security deposit. Once we have received your deposit your reservation is confirmed. This deposit is considered payment and will be applied towards your rental amount.

    Full Trailer Payment:All trailer rental amounts have to be paid in full 30 days prior to arrival. Cancellation fees may be applied as a result of non-payment.

    Security Deposit A security/damage deposit of $500.00 will be required for each trailer rental. This deposit is to cover the cost of any late check-out fees (see Late Checkout Fees), additional cleaning, lost key(s) (until returned), equipment, and for any damage to the trailer, awning, or equipment which may occur during the use of the trailer. You will be directed by the reservationist and the rental confirmation that is sent to you as to how the security deposit will be accepted. In all cases, the security deposit is arranged by, held by and returned by the franchise that you are staying with and must be in place prior to your arrival. Your local Adventure In Camping franchise will return any or all of the security deposit once the trailer is returned in clean and undamaged condition.

    Payment Methods: We accept cash, money order, cashier's check, traveler's check, personal check. There is a $25.00 fee for all returned checks. If we receive a returned check the rental will be cancelled and the appropriate refund schedule will be applied. (See Refund Policy)

    Refund Policy: Any cancellations made 61 days or more prior to your scheduled arrival date are subject to a $15 Cancellation Fee. Since our trailers are reserved months in advance of the reservation date, Adventure In Camping will retain your confirmation deposit for any cancellations made 31 to 60 days prior to your scheduled arrival date. We are unable to make refunds for any reason 30 days or less from your scheduled arrival date. We regret that we cannot make exceptions for personal emergencies as a cause for refunds.

    Reservation Changes: Any changes made to a reservation after the day of the original booking will incur a $5.00 processing and handling fee.

    Trailer Operations: Each piece of equipment in the trailer will be fully explained to you upon delivery to the campground by the trailer delivery person. There is also a book within the trailer which explains in detail all the trailer operations and equipment and has local contact phone numbers for our service personnel. No prior camping experience is required, however respect for conservation will be helpful during your trip.

    Pets: Well mannered pets are always welcome. However, there is an additional charge of $20.00 for pets. We do ask that you do not leave your pet unattended in the trailer.

    Early Departures or Late Arrivals: No refunds are issued for late arrivals or early departures.

    Q: What can I expect when I rent one of your trailers?

    Adventure in Camping hopes that everyone can enjoy a true camping experience, while we provide a few "creature comforts". Camping used to be sleeping under the stars in blankets or sleeping bags, cooking over an open fire, washing up in a stream, and using a nearby tree for one’s basic needs. The only nighttime lighting was provided by the campfire or a coleman gas lamp, if someone was fortunate enough to have one and it worked. These conditions, although primitive, were very enjoyable and brought families and friends closer together, as long as it wasn’t raining or the bears didn’t get too close to the "tree". As civilization creeps ever closer to the great outdoors, even washing in the stream becomes a thing of the past.

    Adventure in Camping provides a shelter for sleeping and cooking in case of rain, some lighting to navigate the darkness, environmentally safe drinking and bathing water, and a safe, indoor "tree" for one’s basic needs. In the case of extremely cold weather, there’s even a heater inside instead of standing around the campfire. We try to locate our Adventure in areas where there are no telephones, no televisions, no electricity for stereos or hair dryers, but plenty of clear skies with stars and lots of room for campfires.

    Although the trailers are equipped with water holding tanks and faucets, electric wall plugs, lights through-out and forced air heaters, YOU ARE CAMPING AND EVERYTHING RUNS ON LIMITED BATTERY POWER UNLESS YOU ARE RENTING ONE OF OUR GENERATORS. Unless you are hooked up and parked in an RV Park with full electric and water hook-ups, your wall plugs and micro-wave oven will not work, you are started out with 40 gallons of fresh water, you have limited sewer holding tanks, and the battery power provided will power the lights and heater on a limited basis, provided that you are conservative and do not run the lights or heaters for long periods of time. The batteries must last your entire stay and although new batteries can be supplied, there is a charge for this service. Should you need service, contact your local service person during the day, as no service is provided after 5pm.

    The trailer is delivered with 40 gallons of fresh water and the water tank will need to be refilled periodically, depending on how much is used. Remember, one 8 minute shower will use all 40 gallons of water and fill your holding tanks, which you are responsible to empty. The "gray water", or water which runs through the sinks and shower, must be disposed of in a designated area and if the 10 gallon portable carrier provided with the trailer is left full when you leave, there will be a $20 charge for our personnel to empty this container. Both holding tanks built onto the trailer, 25 gallon sewage and 25 gallon gray water, will be emptied by our personnel after your stay at no additional fee.

    Other "inconveniences" you may have during your camping experience, such as your hot water heater pilot light needing to be re-lit, can usually be handled by reading through the trailer instruction booklet provided in the trailer. If all else fails, you can call your local service representative and they can answer your questions or stop by during the day to assist you.

    Adventure in Camping is not intended to be a substitute for a hotel, motel or condominium. But if you want to return to nature and experience the great outdoors, this may be the accommodation for you. We offer quality camping trailers for your camping enjoyment and our representatives make every effort to insure your vacation is memorable.

    Q: What do I do first?

    First you choose your campground, then you choose your trailer model from the available models. Then you call the reservationist at Adventure in Camping and make your trailer reservation.

    Q: Does Adventure In Camping own the campgrounds?

    No. Adventure in Camping doesn't own the campgrounds. We just rent trailers that we park in the campground of your choice, within each of our service areas. Each campground has its' own rules and regulations and you and Adventure In Camping are constrained by those rules just like any other camper. Specifically, check in and check out times, reservations, entry costs and the like.

    Q: How big of truck do I need to pull one of your trailers?

    With our traditional program, you don't need a truck to pull one of our trailers. That's the great part about renting from Adventure in Camping! You only have to choose the campsite and we deliver your trailer to you!. We even level the trailer, show you all of the inner workings and then pickup the trailer after you have enjoyed your camping adventure. We do offer trailers that can be "Self-Pulled" during off season. Give us a call for details about this option.

    Q: Can you pre-park the trailer in my campsite?

    Generally this is a campground by campground option. We normally can pre-park your trailer in any private campground. Just make a reservation with them and let us know the site they've assigned you when you call to make your trailer reservation. We'll try to set up your trailer ahead of your arrival if possible.

    Q: Is the trailer hooked up to water and electricity?

    Again, this is based on your campground and actual campsite. If you camp in a park with water and power we will gladly hook you up to them. Rember that the trailer is self-contained and carries 40 gallons of fresh water while the batteries and propane run your appliances.

    Q: How do we get more water?

    The trailer comes with the necessary equipment to refill your water tank, if the driver hasn't hooked you up to an available water source. During the check-in walkthrough, the driver will show you how to fill the blue fresh water jugs and empty them into the trailer's fresh water supply, or provide the necessary hose to hook up to a close-by water spigot.

    Q: Does the trailer have heat?

    Yes, it has central heat which runs on battery power and propane. Please be aware that the heater, although it uses propane for the heat, requires a lot of battery power so conserving is important.

    Q: Can we get the trailer in the morning?

    We deliver trailers between noon and 5pm as the morning hours are spent picking up the trailers of departing guests. Campgrounds usually want the trailers out before noon so they can rent the spaces to incoming campers so we have to make every effort to remove any standing trailers.

    Q: Can we stay later in the day?

    That depends if we need the trailer for the next guest. As a rule, the next guest is scheduled for noon delivery on the day you check out (check out time is 10am---on a busy day, it can be as early as 7:30am)---and we need time to get the trailer back for servicing. Ask your trailer delivery driver when he delivers the trailer to check for availability. We have to strictly enforce our check out times and you will be charged a late fee depending on how long the driver has to wait (typically $25 per hour). It's important the trailer be ready for pick up at your scheduled time so it can be serviced and delivered on time to the next guest.

    Q: Are pets allowed?

    Pets are generally welcomed, however, your specific campground or Adventure In Camping trailer provider may have some restrictions. Also, there is a $20 pet charge for the reservation and we ask that your pet not be left unattended inside the trailer as you will be responsible for any cushions that come up missing or half eaten. Also, a barking dog, left outside the trailer may cause issues too, but use your best judgement.

    Q: How do I reserve the campsite?

    To make reservations at privately owned campgrounds, call the campground directly, or go through a reservation service. The number for Forest Service campgrounds is 877-444-6777. Our web site contains all the numbers we have for each campground.

    Q: Are there campgrounds right on a lake?

    YES! There are lots of State Parks and Forest Service Campgrounds located right at the lakes edge. You won't however, find any private parks that close as they are restricted by the water, sewer and electric hookups they have developed. For that reason they are rarely, if ever, developed lakeside.

    Q: What if we run out of batteries while we're there?

    Your batteries can last as much as 6-7 nights if you are conservative. (Remember, your heater and the lights are a huge draw. Just don't leave them on too long!) If you suspect your batteries are getting low, make a point of calling your service number as early in the morning as possible. Your service guy will try to make time during his day to stop by. If he is going to be in your area, he will stop by with fresh batteries. A charge for fresh batteries will apply if you have exhausted the batteries too quickly due to over-use or if the driver needs to make a special trip to your camping area. (Normal use batteries will last 4-5 days)

    Q: How come the microwave doesn't work?

    The microwave and wall outlets will only work if you are hooked up to an electrical source as they won't operate on battery power. We do offer generators for rent if you must have a microwave, just be sure to let the reservationist know your needs in advance to make sure you get one that can operate your microwave.

    Q: Can we have you move the trailer to another site/campground during our stay?

    Moving the trailer is considered on a case by case basis. Generally, the first site you pick is the site you're in for the duration of your stay, however, we want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. If you need to move, call your service rep as early in the day as possible. If there is enough driver time in the schedule, he will let you know when to expect him and how much the charge will be. Under no conditions are you allowed to move the trailer yourself. Moving the trailer even within the same site is a violation of our insurance policy and is strictly forbidden.

    Q: Do you rent trailers for towing by the customer?

    Yes. We do offer trailers to be "Self-Pulled" during off season. Please call for details about this option.

    Q: Can we rent for a few months to live in?

    Each Adventure In Camping location has it's own requirements as to the maximum length of the trailer rental. Check with each locations' information page to determine if your location supports longer rentals. Note that there are also limits to the length of time you can stay in most State and Federal parks.

    Q: How long will it take for the trailer to be delivered once we call with our site information?

    You will receive a scheduled time for delivery when you make your trailer reservation. You should try to arrive AT LEAST one hour ahead of your delivery time to choose your site and then call the Adventure In Camping Associate (anytime after 7:30am) to let him know which site you've chosen. He will let you know when to expect the trailer.

    Q: Can our friends call you with the site number ?

    Sure. In a big group, one person to direct traffic & pay for the sites is all we need to get the entire group set up.

    Q: What if we're not arriving until midnight?

    If you plan on a late arrival, you must have a specific campsite reservation ahead of time. This is normally only available in private campgrounds. When you make your site reservation, they will assign you a site number----which you give to us when you make your trailer reservation. We will park your trailer in that site ahead of your arrival, leaving it open with the keys in it.

    Q: Can we put a tent next to the trailer?

    If it's OK with the campground, it's OK with us.

    Q: Is there room for our cars/boat?

    Again, pick a site that suits your needs----but check with the campground host, as well.

    Q: Can we have a campfire?

    In campsites that have fire rings and of course, it's weather dependent. In unusually dry or windy times, the Forest Service may prohibit campfires altogether. Check with your campground host during your stay for specific information.

    Q: What do we need to bring?

    We suggest pillows, bath towels, and sleeping bags (or, sheets & blankets). Your kitchen is outfitted with plates, bowls, utensils, and pots and pans.

    Q: What's the latest you can deliver a trailer?

    During our busiest days, we are usually done by 5-6pm. Please note that no trailers can be delivered after dark.

    Q: Is there a coffee pot?

    Yes, a stove top percolator. If you're going into a park with electrical hook-ups, you're welcome to bring a coffee maker.

    Q: What if the weather turns bad?

    Weather puts the adventure in Adventure in Camping! The weather changes daily, but nothing brings a group together like sitting around a fire complaining about the weather. But, should you decide to check-out early, call us and let us know and remember that we are unable to give refunds for unused nights for any reason.

    Q: What do we do if we have problems during our visit?

    There is a notebook in the trailer that will troubleshoot any problem you may have. If all else fails, call your Adventure In Camping Associate first thing in the morning. He will either walk you through it or arrange a time to stop by. We are unable to make service calls after normal business hours.

    Q: Are there bears, ants, mice, chipmunks, skunks, deer, possum, rabbits, coyotes, flies, mosquitoes, bees, or any other type of wildlife?

    YES! YES! YES! This is the last great wilderness, and your Adventure In Camping trailer adds just a touch of civilization. As with any camping adventure, all of the good things come with a rough edge. Our trailers are not replacements for hotel rooms, condos or other more typical lodgings and as our trailers are located in the middle of the animal's world, that you have come to enjoy, the wildlife may even come to your door. Bring bug spray, keep your food covered and out of temptations way, and while the wildlife might come visit, they probably won't stay. They don't seem to like us smelly humans, just our food and garbage. By the way, each of our trailers are thoroughly cleaned and de-crittered prior to any rental, so any critters you may run across that may have found their way into the trailer are part of the campground and are after any food you may have left unattended.

    Q: Can we extend our stay once we're there?

    If the trailer's available, sure! Call the reservation office to check availability.

    Q: Is there a refund if we leave early?

    No. We are unable to refund for any unused nights.

    Q: Can you park us all together (multiple trailers)?

    You and the campground determine where we park the trailer. Remember that larger trailers need more space. Just tell the delivery person know exactly where to place the trailer(s).

    Q: Does the trailer come with a generator?

    No, but we do rent them on a first-come first served basis. Ask your Advenure In Camping reservationist for specific information regarding your generator needs. If you are planning on bringing your own generator, let us know so the driver can leave the correct adaptor to plug the trailer cord into your generator.
